The Energy Act creates the new role of the independent demand response provider: a market participant that offers demand response services, without being a supplier to a connected party. We further shape this role in the topic Registratieproces van onafhankelijke vraagrespons aanbieders’ (‘Registration process of independent demand response providers’). For the elaboration of this topic, we are looking for parties that want to be active as an independent demand response provider.
What is demand response?
Demand response is the change in the consumption or production of electricity at final customers compared to their normal consumption or production patterns. The change is a response to market signals or system needs. The aim is to sell the reduction or increase in demand on an energy trading market.
Register independent demand response providers
The Energy Act Scope Authority has drawn up a Lean Business Case for a solution to register independent demand response providers for the purpose of system processes. The GMM MFF has now adopted this Lean Business Case.
Topic team develops topic
In June, a topic team will start developing the Lean Business Case into a topic. The team represents the roles involved: balance responsible parties, suppliers, distribution and transmission system operators. However, we are still missing parties that want to represent the role of independent demand response provider. That is why we are looking for a participant in that role so that the interests of the independent demand response provider are represented when writing the topic.
