Established topic about improving insight into non-readable smart meters

On Wednesday 21 May, the GMM MFF adopted the topic TS025 ‘Functioneren P4-berichtenverkeer – Verbeteren inzicht bij Slimme Meter Niet uitleesbaar (SMN)’ (‘Functioning of P4 messaging – Improving insight into Smart Meter Not Readable’). This topic is about improving the insight into why a meter is not remotely readable and contains sector agreements for standardizing the working method in the event of smart meter failures.

The solution provides suppliers, other service providers and distribution system operators with additional insight:

  • why the connection is classified as technically unreadable;
  • whether the connected party can resolve the fault (which the customer can do);
  • what the distribution system operator will do;
  • what is expected of the market party;
  • what perspective there is on solving the malfunction.

The topic ensures that market parties can better inform their customers. It also helps market parties and customers to contribute to reducing the number of connections with non-readable smart meters. In addition, a uniform working method ensures better automation options and more customer understanding.

In consultation with the relevant market roles, BAS will draw up a schedule for the implementation of the topic and submit it to the MFF for approval. We will keep you informed via the newsletter.

The topic document can be found on the Energiedatawijzer.
